R/C Glider flying club Hastings, East Sussex

BruceVenom and MambaMembers wanted! We are a small band of pilots who fly r/c gliders on the slopes and hills around Hastings, East Sussex.

There are currently about 8 of us who go out fairly regularly around Hastings / Fairlight / Winchelsea / Rye / Eastbourne (sometimes...) . We enjoy combat, looning about, the wind in our hair (for some of us!), chatting to passers by, the sun in our eyes, fiddling with the centre of gravity, other people fetching our gliders, flasks of hot tea, etc.

R/C glider flying sites in Hastings

A collection of our gliders at Butts laneTwo original SAS things in the sunsetWe fly on a few slopes / hills around Hastings including Fairlight Firehills (South and South West), East Hill (West and South East) and West Hill (South). We also use the old windmill site in Winchelsea, the slopes behind Thomas Peacocke school, the dunes at Camber sands, Galley Hill in Bexhill and other places.

When we feel like a drive we sometimes head over to Eastbourne (East Sussex) to fly our R/C gliders on the Long Man of Wilmington (our favourite), Butts lane and Beachy head.

Here is a page showing details (road maps, Google Earth bookmarks, wind directions, etc.) of the local slopes / hills we fly our R/C gliders on.

Our R/C glider club

We fly under the name General Tomfoolery and love to fool around with EPP combat flying wings (particularly Soar Ahead Sailplanes models like the Venom / Mamba / Wild thing).
There's Nick 'Itchy thumbs' Robus, Baz 'Big Dogg' Robinson, Matt 'Mad Dog' Ilsley, Jon 'JK' Kemm, Scott & his Pops Jon, and others I can't remember at the moment.
